Lead. Empower. Achieve. Discover.

In 2007, Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee established the L.E.A.D. Program, which was designed to give an authentic Girl Scout troop experience to girls who come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and high-risk urban and rural communities. The L.E.A.D. Girl Scouts are connected with college students, school staff, and community professionals to act as committed, highly motivated leaders and mentors. Girls are recruited through schools, community centers, and churches and participate in a 12-week Girl Scout program during the school year. The girls will experience the traditions of Girl Scouting as well as learn about practical life skills, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programming, health and fitness, cultural awareness, outdoor adventures, and more.
