Camp Sycamore Hills, established in 1958, is located on 742 acres of beautiful bluffs and meadows in Ashland City, Tennessee. Sycamore Hills is the largest Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee summer residential camp – often used for troop and service unit camping – and holds our equestrian facility. It offers many opportunities to experience the great outdoors including archery, bluff rappelling, canoeing, cookouts, high ropes, horses, obstacle courses, team adventure, tree climbing, and wagon rides.

    Cabana is a cabin that sits right across the road from the Red Barn. It is a cabin with a big room in the center and four bedrooms. Two of the rooms have five bunk beds each and the other two rooms have two bunk beds each. It has a kitchen and a fireplace as well as a bathroom with showers. Behind the cabin is a fire ring and picnic table for outdoor cooking.

    Creekside is a dorm style cabin located just across the road from the shower house. It is a cabin with a big room, which holds nine bunk beds, and two smaller rooms with two bunk beds in each. It has a kitchen, an eating area, and an indoor bathroom with toilets and showers. Behind the cabin you will find a small creek, a fire ring, and benches for outdoor cooking.

    Hilltop is one of our older units that has been renovated and converted from tent units to a cozy dorm style cabin. It has a larger room that holds 10 bunk beds and a smaller room that holds two bunk beds. The latrines have been renovated into separate bathrooms with flushing toilets, located just behind the cabin, and the shower house is located down the path from the bathroom. Across from the cabin is a pavilion with two fire places for outdoor cooking.

    Jamboree Hall is a cabin located next to the main parking lot with one big room as the lounge area located next to the kitchen. Then down the hall you will find five rooms of which four of them have three bunk beds in them and one room has two cots. Behind the cabin is a fire ring and picnic table for outdoor cooking.

    Riverview is one of our newest cabins and is located right next to the horse barn. It has two floors which is shared with the horse programs that are run through the bottom floor of the cabin. The second floor is a dorm style sleeping area where you will find two small rooms with four bunk beds in each and a larger room with an additional 14 bunk beds, as well as indoor bathrooms and showers that are handicap accessible. On the first floor you will find a kitchen with a stove, fridge, and microwave, and a classroom where your group can eat meals. Down the hall you will find the boot and helmet room where the participants of the horse program go to get ready, and another set of bathrooms for both yours and programs use.

The cabin is set as one big room with a divider between the two sides, one of which has two bunk beds and the other has five bunk beds. Although this cabin does not have a kitchen, it does have a refrigerator to help when reserving this cabin for the weekend. The bath house is located down a sidewalk path from the cabin, and it has both bathrooms and showers. Tree House does come with a pavilion located underneath the cabin with picnic tables and fire rings completing the set up.

    The road to Tree House is rough. We recommend only SUVs or 4-heel drive vehicles.

Screened Cabins

    Hogan is a bunk cabin unit, meaning that there are several cabins of which are double stacked on top one another. There are six cabins with six bunk beds in each and a smaller cabin with two bunk beds inside. There is a paved walk that leads to the bath house with both bathrooms and showers. This unit also has beautiful octagon-shaped wooden decks that pave a walkway to each cabin and down to the pavilion which is screened and comes with a fireplace and a fire ring outside of the the pavilion.

  • Whispering Oaks (Screened Cabins)

    Whispering Oaks is a cottage unit surrounded by oak trees. This unit has nine small cabins arranged in a semicircle with two bunk beds in each cabin. At the start of the semicircle is the bath house with both bathrooms and showers, and on the inside of the semicircle is a screened pavilion. This pavilion has a fireplace both inside and out, and a fire ring just outside of the screened pavilion.

Tents

    Tent pitching is a great way to camp, you are welcomed to come on camp and make use of the communal facilities while you tent camp. If you are cooking your are welcomed to the fire ring at the amphitheater if there is no programs using this area, another option is the fire ring next to the Red Barn. While tent camping you are able to use the bathrooms in the Red Barn using the side entrance. While the shower house is an option, it will only be open sometimes during the year and it is a communal space that you will need to work with other groups to use.
