Did you know Girl Scouts sells more than just yummy cookies? Each fall, Girl Scouts have the opportunity to take part in our Fall Product Program to raise money for their troop for fun activities. Girls can easily sell the items through paper order cards or online. We asked two Fall Product professionals, Tracy and Kathleen, to give us all the inside information. Check out what they had to say below!
- What is Fall Product?
The Fall Product Program is a council-sponsored program that allows Girl Scouts to learn new skills while earning money for their troops. It is a great way for troops to earn start-up funds for the upcoming Girl Scout year. Troops can earn 20% from the Fall Product Program between August 14 and October 30 with in-person and online sales.
- When does Fall Product take place?
This year, the Fall Product Program starts on August 14, and paper or promise orders end September 28. Online ordering is extended and ends October 30, 2018.
- Who can sell Fall Product?
All registered Girl Scouts have permission to sell Fall Product!
- What items are sold?
There are 15 nut and candy items for sale. Some specialties are individually wrapped Trefoil-shaped milk chocolates with creamy mint centers in a collectable Girl Scout tin and Pecan Supremes in an adorable reindeer tin. A new candy item being introduced this year is an English Butter Toffee – yum!
Online there are over 850 magazine options with best selling magazines and subscription kits at low prices.
- Do you have a favorite product?
Tracy shared she has many favorites but always has Trefoil Mints and Pecan Clusters in a candy dish on her desk! She also enjoys chocolate covered peanuts while reading her eMagazine on her couch in the evenings.
- When will customers receive their product?
All service units have a delivery date of October 20, 2018. Your service unit Fall Product Coordinator will select a delivery location near you for troop pick ups. Girls will pick up from troop leader at a scheduled time and place. Orders are deliverable to customers as soon as they are received by girl.
Great news is magazine orders are processed immediately and delivered within 2 to 3 weeks after the customer completes their sales.
- Why should Girl Scouts and/or Troops sell Fall Product?
The benefits of Fall Product sales are great products and holiday gifts for teachers, coworkers, friends, and family. Magazines are sold online at the LOWEST prices available and troops make 20% (22% if troop chooses to opt-out of rewards) to utilize for startup costs and programs.
- Do girls earn individual rewards?
Yes, girls can earn cumulative rewards beginning at $100 in sales and all the way to $1500 or more! If a troop opts out of rewards, girls will still be eligible to earn patches. On the back of the paper order form, girls will be able to review the rewards and set their individual goal.
- Who is Amelia the Moose?
Amelia the Moose is our mascot for this year’s sale and girls can earn a stuffed animal and be entered into a drawing. If a girl sells a minimum of $300 in sales, she has the choice of earning a small moose; if a girls sell $800 or more in sales she can chose to earn a large moose. There will also be a drawing for a life-sized Amelia. For each $250 dollars sold in fall product, the scout’s name will be placed in the drawing to win the life-size Amelia! ($250 = 1 name; $500 = 2 name, etc.)
- How do you earn Amelia the Moose patch?
Girls need to visit six locations and post pictures with flat Amelia(available in the Fall Product Rally Guide) tagging Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee and #AmeliaTheMoose. Then they will submit the travel passport and be eligible for a patch.
- What’s a fun way to encourage girls to sell online?
Girls can build their own personalized avatar for selling! When girls set up their own account to sell fall product, she creates her own Me2 avatar. She can choose to make the avatar look just like her (skin tone, hair style and color, eye shape and color, and more!) Once she has finished, she can save this avatar as a photo to use on her online store, as well as her earned personalized patch by sending out 12 emails and selling $300 in total items. Your Girl Scout can also set up her own Me2 room to earn more virtual rewards. Girls will be able to start creating their own Avatar on August 14th.
- What if someone wants to support Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee but does not want the treats?
Participants are given the option to donate for HUGS for Our Soldiers. This Care to Share program benefits the soldiers at Fort Campbell, KY and troops overseas. This is an opportunity for customers to make a donation to a Girl Scout troop as well as make a donation to our soldiers. Last year, our council donated nearly 3,000 nut and candy items to the soldiers.
