Through Girl Scouting, girls learn to think “outside the box” to solve problems in their community and in their daily lives. Outside the Box, an annual fundraising event, celebrates the ways girls learn and grow in a fun way – with Girl Scout Cookie inspired desserts!
At Outside the Box, local Franklin restaurants used Girl Scout Cookies to create fun, creative desserts to showcase how they think “outside the box.” Proceeds from the evening directly benefits girls in Middle Tennessee.
This year’s event honored Franklin Chief of Police Deborah Faulkner. During her short speech, Chief Faulkner drew some parallels between her current leadership role and her time as a Girl Scout.
“My current role has a few similarities to Girl Scouting,” Chief Faulkner said. “I still earn badges and I still have a troop.”
Chief Faulkner currently leads 160 men and women who make up the Franklin Police Department, the ninth largest in the state of Tennessee.
Restaurants that participated in this year’s event included Cork & Cow, Delta Bound, Harvest at Homestead, Merridee’s Breadbasket and Momma Nik’s Cheesecake.
After sampling each dessert from each restaurant, attendees voted for their favorite dessert by placing a ticket at their chosen restaurant’s table. Cork & Cow took home the people’s choice for best dessert with their Savannah Smiles Lemon White Chocolate Blueberry Pie.
After a night of mingling, delicious desserts and hors d’oeuvres, attendees came together to meet and exceed the evening’s goal of raising valuable funds for Girl Scouts in Middle Tennessee.
