Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee was happy to host our fifth annual Outside the Box fundraiser presented by Lee Company on February 20 at McConnell House in Franklin, Tennessee. While Girl Scouts teaches girls to think outside the box and find new ways to tackle obstacles, this event invites local restaurants to think outside the box and create delicious desserts inspired by Girl Scout Cookies!
Maneet Chauhan joined Outside the Box as guest host this year. Chauhan is a celebrity chef on Food Network, founding member of Morph Hospitality, local restaurant entrepreneur, and Williamson County Girl Scout mom.
Chauhan enjoys the variety of opportunities Girl Scouts has to offer, including the entrepreneurship-focused Girl Scout Cookie Program. Girl Scout Cookies allow girls to learn about goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.
“The Girl Scout influence in Williamson County and in my own family is strong. Girl Scouts has been an incredible opportunity for my daughter, as well as an invaluable resource for girls learning leadership skills,” Chauhan said.
The winner of this year’s people choice award was Cork & Cow with a delicious Gluten Free Sticky Toffee Bundt Cake, which consisted of a gluten-free mini bundt cake made from crushed Toffee-tastic® cookies and drizzled in toffee sauce (pictured above).
Last year’s people’s choice winners, Merridee’s, returned with a delicious Lemon-Ups Lemon Bar. The tasty treat was made with a shortbread base, lemon filling, and crumbled Lemon-Ups™ Girl Scout Cookies to top it off.
Momma Nik’s Cheesecake treated us to their own take on S’mores Cheesecake, a graham cracker crust filled with traditional cheesecake and topped with Girl Scout S’mores™.
For their first year in the competition, Pork Belly Farmhouse created yummy Peanut Butter Do-si-dos Eclairs. They used a peanut butter filling and crushed Do-si-dos® as the finishing touch!
Scout’s Pub shared delightful Tagalong Cannolis with the guests. The dessert was made with a cannoli dough fried to perfection, filled with Tagalongs® whipped cream filling, and topped with a chocolate drizzle.
A Girl Scout mom herself, Sugar Magnolia Bakeshop joined us with Samoas Cheesecake Bites. The desserts were bite-sized mini graham cracker crusts with Samoas® cheesecake filling.
