Did you know November 8 is National STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Day? Many girls believe a career in STEAM is not for them due to misconceptions but Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee wants to help encourage girls to follow their passions!

Girl Innovator programs are a great way for girls to become involved in STEAM. Girls can learn electricity in Squishy Circuits, see who can build the tallest structure with Spaghetti Towers, and find out about chemical and physical changes with Slime. These programs can come to you or be provided at any GSMIDTN property.

Is art more your Girl Scout’s style? Check out Canvas Creation where girls are provided a blank canvas to create their own masterpiece. We also partner with Nashville Children’s Theatre multiple times a year for workshops where girls can go behind the scenes and see what it takes to put on a show.

Our Girl Scout Journeys are also becoming more STEAM focused. All Girl Scouts in Middle Tennessee can now complete Think Like a Programmer or Think Like an Engineer. Girl Scout Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors can also complete Think Like a Citizen Scientist. (PDFs of the Journeys are available in the Cabin for $2.)

Whether your Girl Scouts wants to become a scientist or become the next star on Broadway, GSMIDTN has a program to help her discover her calling!
