More than 700 girl leaders and adult volunteers received the highest honors in Girl Scouting at the 2018 Salute to Outstanding Leadership Awards (SOLA) ceremony. SOLA took place on Sunday, April 29 at Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena.

As attendees arrived at SOLA, girls had the opportunity to participate in activities that showcased the Girl Scout impact in their own lives and in the lives of others. Girls also had the chance to strike a pose and hold up photo props with their friends and family at a photo celebration.

On the way to the photo celebration area, girls and their families were inspired as they walked through a hallway that showcased summaries on Gold Award Girl Scouts’ Take Action Projects.

Salute to Outstanding Leadership Awards 2018 - Sunday, April 29

SOLA keynote speaker Charlynda Jean Scales traveled from Washington D.C. to instill words of encouragement and stories of learning and success to girls and adults. Scales, a former Gold Award Girl Scout from Cookeville, Tennessee, has made her way around the globe as an entrepreneur and influencer. Scales is a dynamic motivational speaker, Air Force Veteran, mentor, and founder and CEO of Mutt’s Sauce, LLC, the company that makes “the sauce for every meal.” During her speech, Scales told attendees the story of how her grandfather’s recipe for his famous sauce turned into a company owned and run by her today.
