Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee was excited to hold our 2018 Annual Girl Scout Luncheon at Music City Center in downtown Nashville on September 18. Our co-chairs, Suann Davis and Mary Lindley Carswell, and committee did an exceptional job organizing the event.

Guests heard from amazing speakers while dining on a delicious lunch. Gold Award Girl Scout Lilli told of how selling Girl Scout Cookies encouraged her to set goals and earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. For her Gold Award Take Action Project, she worked to place solar panels on her high school, which took a lot of time, energy, and dedication. Her effort was rewarded as she earned her Gold Award and was further recognized by both the TVA with an innovation award and the city of Fayetteville, Tennessee, with a resolution from the mayor.

While special guest Dylan Dreyer was not able to attend in person due to Hurricane Florence, she was still able to video call in from New York City and give a moving speech. Dreyer, a meteorologist for NBC News often seen on Weekend TODAY and Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, talked about the importance of following your passions and not being afraid to try something new. She mentioned her days of Girl Scouting and earning badges towards math, science, and weather, which helped forge her career path in meteorology.

A big thank you goes to our committee, speakers, attendees, and sponsors who helped make this year’s Girl Scout Luncheon a huge success.
