Walk this Way
October 31, 2012 – March 12, 2013
Juliette Gordon Low once said, “It is of paramount importance to teach the young citizen to assume responsibility for her own development and health.”
We at Girl Scouts are asking you to help us as we continue to teach our young citizens of middle Tennessee the importance of healthy living. “Data from 2009-2010 indicates that over 78 million U.S. adults and about 12.5 million (16.9%) children and adolescents are obese.” Let’s lead the next Girl Scout century as the difference in these statistics.
Walking is the simplest form of exercise, and it is right at our feet. Walk this Way and join us this year and into the next, as we virtually walk from Savannah to Nashville. Along with creating your own troop activities take part in our FIZEEK! Fit Days, where we will hike trails in one of our beautiful local parks, walk the green way, take a grocery store tour and much more! Celebrate your group’s accomplishments at our finale event – Walk this Way 5kin March.
Girls need to feel confident physically and mentally. Our healthy living initiative helps girls sort through the challenges of growing up while teaching them good nutritional and exercise habits and the benefits of an active lifestyle.
The goal for this program is to provide our Girl Scouts with the information and activities essential to assume responsibility of their own physical and mental wellbeing, while also encouraging members of their families and community to assume responsibility for their own mental and physical health.
