Attend a Training
Prepare yourself with the skills and knowledge to be a success.
Girl Scout volunteer training provides leadership teams and other adults with the knowledge and skills necessary for working with girls of all age levels. The courses are designed to enrich both the girls’ and adults’ experience.
Outdoor Training Courses
These trainings are mandatory and must be taken prior to your troop camping at any Girl Scout Camp or public camping sites. The first three are available online. There is a home study option for those unable to do an online course.

- Camp Ready
- Camp Prep
- Camp Information and Procedures
- Outdoor Skills: This class prepares leaders to camp with their girls and should be taken after completing the three online courses above. After completion of this course, you would be able to camp in any Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee cabins, tent units or pitch tents.
Leaders should take the Outdoor Training classes at least 90 days prior to a camping trip.
First Aid/CPR/AED Trainings
A first-aider is an adult volunteer who has taken Girl Scout approved first-aid and CPR training, that includes specific instructions for child CPR. The courses offered by Girl Scouts are through American Red Cross.
Older Girl Trainings
Teens who earn mentoring awards are given a special opportunity to serve as champions for the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. As they serve in their roles, Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors can grow awareness of Girl Scouting’s aim to deliver fun with purpose: enjoyable and challenging activities that grow girls’ leadership in their daily lives and in the world.
