Travel Information
An important component to the Girl Scout leadership experience is the ability to travel as a troop or with a group locally, nationally and internationally. Girls and adult volunteers have the opportunity to take their journey outside of their regular meeting place so they can discover their world, connect with others and take action to make the world a better place. A great way to start that journey is through Girl Scout travel. Below is basic information regarding the procedures for traveling as a Girl Scout. Troop Travel
Some of the most memorable moments in a Girl Scout’s life happen while attending special events and taking trips. Before planning a trip be it a day trip, simple overnight trip or extended troop trip, refer to the following resources:
For trips lasting three nights or longer and/or outside the 100 mile jurisdiction (refer to Intent to Travel map), complete the Intent to Travel form.
Girl Scout Destinations
GSUSA offers Destinations trips where girls sixth grade and up can travel across their state, their country or the globe.
Destinations Categories
- International - events outside of the United States.
- Outdoors - events ranging from learning outdoor skills to Outward Bound challenges on land or sea.
- Science - events that take science to a new level. Learn animal behavior or what a doctor’s life is like.
- People - events that visit cities and countrysides so you can experience the culture of new places.
- Apprenticeships - events that give you hands-on, real-life experience in a potential career field.
- Getaways - two to four-day events all over the country, that don’t require the Destinations application.
