Project L.E.A.D.

add description

Girl Scouting is an experience meant to develop all girls from all social, racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds.  Because today’s society is diverse, so too are the Girl Scouts.  Project LEAD, which stands for Lead. Empower. Achieve. Discover., brings the Girl Scout experience to girls in urban and rural settings.  More than just a one-time outreach program, Project LEAD’s ongoing programs teach girls character building and life skills that can turn them into leaders of tomorrow.  The Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee promotes programs for all girls to experience different cultures with partnering organizations, patch programs and even travel. Our Goal

The goal of the program is to recruit college students from local colleges and universities to serve as troop leaders and mentors for girls. The specific goals for girls in the program are to increase their leadership skills, self-esteem and confidence.  We also hope to provide girls with opportunities to serve their communities and to learn from college role models who can give girls a broader perspective of the lifetime benefits of education and community service.
