MANDATORY TRAININGS THAT MUST BE TAKEN PRIOR TO YOUR TROOP CAMPING AT ANY GIRL SCOUT CAMPS OR PUBLIC CAMPING SITES
4. Camp Ready (available online on this page)
5. Camp Prep (available online on this page)
6. Camp Info and Procedures (available online on this page)
7. Camping Skills - Offered in-person only at one of the Girl Scout camps. This class prepares leaders to camp with their girls. It is designed to be taken after completing three online courses above (Camp Information and Procedures, Camp Prep and Camp Ready). In this class, you will have a hands-on opportunity to learn about the following: knot tying, fire building, propane stove, knife safety and pitching tents. After completion of this course, you would be able to camp in any Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee cabins, tent units or pitch tents. If you completed Camping Skills Level 1, you should only take the Camp Information and Procedures online course.
8. Outdoor Cooking Enrichment - To be taken prior to your troop cooking outdoors over open flame. In this course, you will learn a variety of outdoor cooking skills to include: Dutch oven, box oven, coal cooking and learning about recipes to use in outdoor cooking. Outdoor cooking is now taught as enrichment to be taken after completion of Camp Skills. You may take it the same day or before you plan to use the skill with your troop.
OPTIONAL TRAININGS
Additional optional courses are needed as your troop activities evolve, such as skills classes for outdoor as your troop progresses and Green leaf trainings - a great supplement to enhance your leadership. Additionally, a registered adult with every troop should be certified in First Aid and CPR before the troop plans an outing or event in which there is risk of injury.
