Warner Park Nature Center offers free programs to the public. The center is open Tuesday through Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is closed on Monday and major holidays. Warner Parks are open sunrise to 11:00 p.m., seven days a week.
The Nature Center has scheduled programs, but also offers requested programs to Girl Scouts. A minimum of 10 participants is required and adults must accompany girls. By request programs are available Tuesday through Saturday at the Nature Center and may be scheduled no later that 3:30 p.m.
Reservations are required for all programs, both public and by request. Some of the programs offered by request include:
• Try-it or badge requirements related to nature, ecology or hiking.
• I Will Survive basic survival program endorsed by NASAR (National Association for Search and Rescue)
• Nature Center Junior Naturalist badge: Fish
• Orienteering and GPS
• Tour of the historic Hodge House
• Service project opportunities
Warner Park Nature Center includes the Susanne Warner Bass Learning Center which houses a natural history museum and programming space, the Milbrey Warner Waller Library complete with an extensive collection of natural history titles, the Emily Warner Dean Administration Building, a working organic garden including a greenhouse and a cedar shadehouse, a wildflower garden and fern garden, the Frist teaching pond, grounds landscaped with native plants and the main trailhead for twelve miles of hiking trails.
Service Project Opportunities
Girl Scout groups and Silver or Gold Award candidates interested in conservation projects can call Friends of Warner Park at (615) 370-8053. The Volunteer Coordinator, along with Warner Park staff, will work with the troop to find a suitable project in the Warner Parks.
