Participants work toward earning the Horse Rider badge. ...

Participants work toward earning the Horse Rider badge. The four hour session provides hands on experience with the horses including grooming, saddling and riding. Depending on the experience of the riders, more practice may be required to complete the badge. This program is offered most weekends throughout the year and may be requested on weekdays.

Learn about caring for horses, equipment and other aspects of horsemanship...

Participants work toward earning the Horse Fan badge by learning about caring for horses and equipment and other aspects of horsemanship. The three hour session is primarily ground work but also includes a trail ride. This program is available on most weekends throughout the year and may be requested on weekdays.

Participants work toward earning the Horse Sense interest patch. Participants will learn about careers with horses and explore many aspects of horses and horsemanship. The four hour session is primarily ground work, but will include a Trail ride. Some additional work after this day may be required to complete the interest patch. This program is available most weekends throughout the year and may be requested on weekdays.

This one-hour session includes a tour of the barn, learning general safety around horses and ponies and hands-on experience with grooming some of Camp Sycamore Hills's equine friends. Lovin' and Groomin' is a non-riding program. Open to Girl Scout Daisies and older. Available most weekends of the school year and may be requested on weekdays.

Girl Scout Brownies will earn the Lovin' and Groomin' try-it.

Girl Scout Brownies will earn the Pony Ready try-it. The program is offered most weekends throughout the year and may be requested on weekdays. The program is available to Girl Scout Brownies and older.

Ever wanted to take horseback riding lessons? Riding lessons include both Western and English. Lessons are available year round, generally on weekdays at Camp Sycamore Hills with our experienced equestrian staff. Students are grouped with no more than four per class of students of similar skill and experience. Available as requested. This is open to girls in grades 2 and older.

Instruction is based on the experience level of the group. Lessons may be tailored to the interests of the group but begin with basic instruction and practice and focus on progressive riding skills. Girl Scout Brownies will earn the Riding Round Up Try It. This 1 1/2 hour session includes helmet and boot fittings, receiving horse assignments and a ground school for basic instructions.

Available to 3rd grade Girl Scout Brownies and older.

This canoe instruction is for participants with no previous, formal canoe experience. This one hour session is divided into two segments which include dry land safety instruction and time on the water. This program is available April 1 - October 31. Beginning canoe at Camp Sycamore Hills is open to girls in grades four and older. Beginning canoe at Camp Nee Kah Nah is open to girls in grades two and higher.
